Cancun with my hottie hubby

Heath and I had the opportunity (more like we had to use our timeshare week from 2009 or we would lose it) to visit Mexico for our first time (well...not counting Tijuana that we were in for a few hours across the boarder from San Diego which is nothing like touristy Mexico).  We stayed in the beautiful city of Cancun.  Our hotel, The Royal Mayan, was located amongst many other resorts more south on the strip where it was pretty peaceful.

We took lots of pictures from our balcony (above pic) as it overlooked the pool and ocean.  From the front door of our two-bedroom villa we overlooked the lagoon (below).  Beautiful sunsets!

We did some fun things like visit some Mayan ruins, called Tulum,  located along the coast about an hour and half south of Cancun.

After the ruins we went to a natural water park called Xel-ha (pronounced Chel-ha).  What a great place to spend the day.  I would recommend it to anyone if spending a few days in that area of Mexico.  We ate our hearts out (all inclusive), snorkeled, zip-lined into water, cliff dove (Heath only), walked a tight-rope, and the biggest thrill was coming in contact with a barracuda the size of me only 15 feet away!  Talk about a frightening surprise!  Wish we would have had an underwater camera!  But just glad there were no catastrophes!

Another day we visited the downtown market to wheel and deal with the vendors.  There was karaoke at the resort that Heath partook in most nights.  By the end of the week people were recognizing him around the resort for his studly performances!

Heath, of course, couldn't wait to eat at Margaritaville.  He was tickled pink the entire time we were there.

But most of our days were spent along side the pool and mostly the beach.  We had beautiful weather and big waves for Heath to body-surf.  We met a few people that became friends from near Detroit, MI.

Heath bought himself a crazy hat from a local selling them along the beach.  Fits him well!  He now wears it while mowing the yard (when he mows the yard - I have taken over that responsibility!).

We had a great time but it is always good to be home after a week away.  Although we are definitely up for another week in Mexico....anyone?

Small updates....

Well the month of February was pretty much someone being sick in our house at all times.  I had it in my head that something would change the month of March but to no avail.  Brooklynn has already had an ear infection and Braxton is going on day 5 of fevers and of course is backed by a flair-up of his asthma.

However between his bouts of sickness we were able to get him in for some pictures.  Out of 55 snapshots taken he smiled in one picture!  ONE!!!  But isn't he cute.  Often people comment that his hair looks red in certain lights and i guess the photographers light did just that!  Heath loved another pose he did even though he looks unhappy in the picture.  But at least his hair isn't red in that one!

Brooklynn has continued to do well in school.  She made honor reader and got her picture taken for the school and was also on the school video announcements!  She is the top of her class thus far.  She is such a good child!  We are blessed to have her!

Brooklynn also finished her season of basketball.  Although she enjoyed it this will probably be her first and last season.  She had more fun socializing and running FROM the ball than anything else.  She might just be our scholar instead of a jock!  Maybe she is leaving that position open for Braxton.  He has such a good throwing arm already and is starting to get the hang of catching too!  He is so antsy to be outside, I can't wait until the weather turns and stays dry so that he can play outside.  He turned 17 months today!

I have chosen to start making small changes in our diet.  For the last month we have cut out all high-fructose syrup, switched to turkey products, smaller portions, and have finally made the switch to whole grains.  Hopefully once those things become "normal" for us then we can move on to other things.  The change came at a perfect time because one of the only blessings of the flu is lost weight!  I lost 5-8 lbs after having the flu and with the diet changes have been able to keep them from coming back!  :)  i have now opened my wardrobe up more options from the past!  :)

Heath has been working hard on getting the garage clean and has done an incredible job!  We actually can fit 2 vehicles in there now (remember it is a 3 car garage!).  He has started working on his fishing boat to get it ready for the water.  He is struggling with some aches and pains in his hands and wrists so we aren't sure if  he will be playing baseball this summer.

Turner Family Pictures

When we celebrated Christmas with my mom and family they
hired a professional photographer to take our family picture.  Here are a few and you can find the rest on our share site (well.....maybe in a while...the Christmas 2010 are not updated)

And I had to throw in one of Kenley because she hasn't made the blog yet!!!  This is my niece, Benjamin and Aimee's youngest.  She was born on April 16th in Memphis, TN.  She and Braxton are 6 months apart.  Isn't she cute!?

Sick kids! ER visit!

My kids have both been hit by sickness over the weekend.  Brooklynn came home from school after having bathroom accidents.  She has consistantly run a fever, had bouts of diarreha, and bouts of throwing up.  Meemaw got the worst of it when she was hit with Brooklynn's vomit while sleeping!  Mom and Vince had come down for the weekend with the intention of watching Brooklynn's bastketball game on Friday and have a late celebration for my birthday.  None of which happened!  We were fortunate enough to have them here Saturday night so that Heath and I could still go out for dinner on their treat.  It was a great meal!  Carrabbas always is!!!

Braxton started having a running nose Saturday and slowly developed a cough.  I started giving him albuterol that afternoon but come Sunday morning he was over the limit for breaths per minute with his ribs showing while breathing...so that landed us in the ER for 4 hours just to get drugs pumped into his body.  Now he is wild man who is overly sensitive while on his 5 day steroid dose.  Not to mention we are stuck in the house with Brooklynn's sickness and now an ice storm!  Talk about cabin fever!  Hopefully this will meet their sick quota for the winter!  We were blessed with having my parents here so that they could stay home with Brooklynn.  It drove Heath nuts to be in the ER and things seeming "normal" meaning no blood gushing or broken bones...and boy was he ugly about it!  He gave the nurses a bigger stink than Braxton did!  Here is little boy in his ER room.

My new phone!

I finally got a new phone...extremely updated from my old one!  A Rumor.  So if you start getting more texts from me it is because I finally got a Qwerty!  :)  That being said I now have a 2 megapixel camera and video camera so I can easily take pictures and video of my kids!   The above photo is of Braxton's 2nd haircut.  Here are just a few videos....Brooklynn had a mini-lesson of Tai-Kwan-Do at the mall.  One video is of her practicing her "lesson" and the other of her breaking a board and a short interview afterwards. I am still working on the kinks so I apologize for having to watch it sideways!

I also got some footage of Braxton's second haircut.  He is a pro at it!  Doesn't he look so handsome! Again I apologize about it being sideways!  I won't record that way again!

Hopefully I will be able to update a little more often now.  Still working on the Shutterfly site (the most current pictures are not updated because of how i have to transfer them, however many other years are so go check them out! The link is posted on this blog).

Family Picture

I know I don't have a ton of blog followers (don't blame you, i do a terrible job!).  However before Christmas we got our first family picture since Braxton's arrival.  Here it is (sorry - i couldn't flip it for some reason):

We have several more so if you have not yet received one and would like one, please email me and let me know!

Have a blessed day!

I know, I know, it has been a long time!

Things have been busy and I usually enjoy my down time reading a book or watching my shows in order to relax these days!  That is my excuse for not posting in over 6 months!  However I have recently been organizing our photos (thanks to my hubby who has taken out the time to go through photos with me) and also uploading on Shutterfly.  As soon as I get my sharesite organized, this blog is my next move (don't get too anxious though - I am slow moving!).  I just finished a free Shutterfly book (thanks Jamie!) so I thought I would post it here (didn't even know I could before - will have to try to add my others!).

Just be prepared because once I do start posting I will have a lot to make up for!
