Cancun with my hottie hubby

Heath and I had the opportunity (more like we had to use our timeshare week from 2009 or we would lose it) to visit Mexico for our first time (well...not counting Tijuana that we were in for a few hours across the boarder from San Diego which is nothing like touristy Mexico).  We stayed in the beautiful city of Cancun.  Our hotel, The Royal Mayan, was located amongst many other resorts more south on the strip where it was pretty peaceful.

We took lots of pictures from our balcony (above pic) as it overlooked the pool and ocean.  From the front door of our two-bedroom villa we overlooked the lagoon (below).  Beautiful sunsets!

We did some fun things like visit some Mayan ruins, called Tulum,  located along the coast about an hour and half south of Cancun.

After the ruins we went to a natural water park called Xel-ha (pronounced Chel-ha).  What a great place to spend the day.  I would recommend it to anyone if spending a few days in that area of Mexico.  We ate our hearts out (all inclusive), snorkeled, zip-lined into water, cliff dove (Heath only), walked a tight-rope, and the biggest thrill was coming in contact with a barracuda the size of me only 15 feet away!  Talk about a frightening surprise!  Wish we would have had an underwater camera!  But just glad there were no catastrophes!

Another day we visited the downtown market to wheel and deal with the vendors.  There was karaoke at the resort that Heath partook in most nights.  By the end of the week people were recognizing him around the resort for his studly performances!

Heath, of course, couldn't wait to eat at Margaritaville.  He was tickled pink the entire time we were there.

But most of our days were spent along side the pool and mostly the beach.  We had beautiful weather and big waves for Heath to body-surf.  We met a few people that became friends from near Detroit, MI.

Heath bought himself a crazy hat from a local selling them along the beach.  Fits him well!  He now wears it while mowing the yard (when he mows the yard - I have taken over that responsibility!).

We had a great time but it is always good to be home after a week away.  Although we are definitely up for another week in Mexico....anyone?
